(Xinhua)

16:04, August 31, 2012

"New Zealand has had a number of firsts, including being the first developed country to conclude free-trade arrangements with China, so we're happy for the three-party cooperation New Zealand is again the first developed country," said Cui.

"We are ready and we are open to explore further ways of expanding such cooperation in the future, but this will have to be done on a case by case basis in a gradual way because each case will be different," he said.

"We have to assess the actual needs of the recipient countries, the comparative advantages of each party and the feasibility for each party."

China would continue its assistance to help Pacific island countries build their capabilities, he said.

"We will continue to be a good friend, a good partner of the island countries. We will continue to work for stability and prosperity in this region. We will continue to work with other members of the international community for their common interests, " said Cui.
