DPRK’s top leader Kim Jong Un inspected the island defense unit stationed in the southernmost part of the southwest front. Kim’s visit came days ahead of the joint exercises between South Korea and the United States, code-named Ulchi Freedom Guardian that are slated on Aug. 20-31. Noting the S. Korean war games with the United States, Kim said they deserve “condemnation as they are threatening peace and stability of not only the DPRK but of the region and the rest of the world”, reported by KCNA on Aug. 18, 2012.
