China defends sovereignty by ‘combination punches’ (2)

(People's Daily Online)

China will take reasonable measures to defend its sovereignty

Although outside countries continuously intervene in the issue of the South China Sea, China has been active to strengthen its relations with ASEAN countries and strive to promote regional peace and development. Two days after the United States made the South China Sea statement, Vice Foreign Minister of China Fu Ying once again stressed through the media that China hopes that all ASEAN countries could join hands with China to safeguard the peace and stability of the South China Sea region.

On July 24, 2012, China established Sansha city. In late June and early July of 2012, China's ocean surveillance ships carried out a regular cruise lasting more than 10 days in the South China Sea region under the jurisdiction of China. Also in July, 30 fishing boats from Hainan went to the Nansha Islands to fish and engage in production activity.

It is not difficult to see that in addition to diplomacy, China also defends its sovereignty and interests with "combination punches" including administrative, economic and military measures, as well as combination of official and non-governmental parties. When having conflicts and disputes with some countries, China always remains reasonable and justified, but unswervingly defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity is its basic stance and bottom line.
