In addition to books, the Apple application shops also sell other pirated works, such as comics.

Writer Mai Jia said he spent 11 years in writing his first best seller Information Leak. But, overnight, pirated books of this hard-achieved work had been put on the Apple application shops for sale. "It really hurts us that the Apple Inc., as a global renowned company, also does such kind of things."

Recently, some writers and publishing houses jointly formed a union for safeguarding legal rights, lodged a complaint against the Apple Inc. and claimed a compensation of more than 10 million yuan. The union called together 22 writers, including Dang Nian Ming Yue, He Ma and Han Han, whose works are suspected being pirated by the Apple Inc.

After the Chinese writers lodged the complaint, the person in charge of the public relations of the Apple Inc. Huang Yuna sent an email to media on March 15, saying that, the Apple Inc., as a company with intellectual property rights, understands the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, and if the company receives any complaint, it will respond to it properly and timely.

However, the owners of intellectual property rights are not satisfied with the response from the Apple Inc. The Motie Digital Union once lodged a complaint on piracy to the Apple Inc. on November 22 of 2011, but the company did not respond until six days later and did not stop selling the pirated works until December 17. Bi is very dissatisfied, “Even after the Publishing Houses have submitted the official authorization documents, the Apple Inc. still cannot put an end to new piracies.”

Lin, a book publication application software developer for the Apple Inc., said that seeking profits by uploading pirated publications is an open secret of the circle. The cooperative mode between the Apple Inc. and application software developers is a thirty-seventy mode based on the amount of downloads. The Apple Inc. gets 30 percents and developers get 70 percents of the profit.
