Last year, the World Trade Center Association established its regional development strategy with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region for the first time.

"The Asia-Pacific region is becoming the leading force of the reorganization of international trade and world economy, and China has an increasingly prominent role", WTCA’s executive vice president Robert Frueh said. The annual meeting held in Beijing attracted WTCA members from Cape Town, Moscow and other cities, which underlines the attractiveness of the Asia-Pacific markets.

As one of the world's leading international trade facilities and service organizations, the World Trade Center network is undergoing rapid expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. On Chinese mainland, 120 cities have applied to join the WTCA.

"We will build more World Trade Center buildings. China is likely to surpass Europe to become the largest market for WTCA," Robert said. At present on the Chinese mainland, in addition to the 26 cities which already have World Trade Centers, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Xi'an, other cities, including Yangzhou, Chengdu, Haikou, Jinan will soon join.

"International trade cannot rely solely on business websites, because the human interface is also very important, which is our most important asset. Trade Centers around the World will be the server for China to integrate into the global trading network." WTCA’s Asian development director Wang Xun said the organization will promote interaction between the members.
