Another reason the woman dislikes Valentine's Day is that she perceives it as a day when many married people commit infidelity.

On February 8, several days before Valentine's Day, four bright red boards were erected over a highway in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, calling on people to boycott the use of Valentine's Day as a chance to commit infidelity and encouraging the appreciation of the love of one's family, according to China News Service.

The boards were part of a public-interest advertisement campaign by, an anti-pornography non-profit website, which aims to protect traditional Chinese family values.

Xia Haixin, the head of, said the Western holiday was corrupted when it was introduced into China, according to, the Heibi provincial government's official website.

"According to a survey, most hotels are booked out around Valentine's Day, and florists, sex shops and jewelry stores are booming, but few people spend Valentine's Day with their spouse." said Xia.

A manager at a private investigation company told that in recent years his business has been booming, especially around Valentine's Day, and that most costumers come to inquire as to whether their spouse has been cheating.
