Risks behind India's military buildup (2)

By Zi Mo (People's Daily Overseas Edition)

10:17, December 18, 2011

India has strategic ambitions and hopes to play an important role in world affairs, so it cannot tolerate these internal and external security environment constraints. It is the Indian goal to continue to strengthen the military and possess a military clout that matches its status as a major power.

However, how many missiles is enough is a question for all governments in the missile era.

India felt pleased by America’s strategic focus shift toward the Asia-Pacific region and began to get close to America, but thinking this move will contain its imaginary enemy would be naive.

In the context of the eastward shift of global economic power and the changing Asian geopolitical pattern, India should cooperate with the neighboring countries instead of being hostile to them and should reduce its own “persecution mania" to play a role on the world stage in the future.

There is no real winner in wars and peace opportunities must not be wasted. This is the wise judgment.

India should not bother about external threats other than the internal peace and harmony of the common people. Average people struggling for food and basic needs, All this warfare budget only to fill Swiss Bank balances of Ruling congress party leaders and their allies.

India and China may end end being the rogue nation that Washington is so fearful. Super egos and jealousies are a potent mix for a militaristic adventures which could see war and death in Asia. And you can thank the devil Washington and those corrupt military and politicians in New Delhi.

"There is no real winner in wars and peace opportunities must not be wasted. This is the wise judgment."...hmm. I completley agree along with all the sane people in the region. India has followed a official policy of "no first use" in its war doctrine ever since its nuclear staus, christened by the Vajpayee government. This policy virtually makes India"s nuclear and war doctrine redundant. No other country in the world can claim to be as moralistic and defensive in nature. Being defensive doesnt mean you cant be assertive. And what does this writer have to say about China"s Dongfeng range of missiles(5000 to 15000 kms). Which "imaginary enemy" is China afraid of?...I wonder.
