According to IMF Deputy Managing Director Naoyuki Shinohara, since joining the WTO, the proportion of commodities' exports of China's GDP has gone up by 10 percent, while imports increased by 20 percent, reaching half of the total consumption.

WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy said that being a member of the WTO provides stronger power for China's modernization, as international investors are now more confident of China and will invest more money and technology into the country.

Lamy also stated that the WTO helps China resist trade protectionism, thus ensuring China's economic growth which is guided by its exports. "Without the WTO, the measures of trade protectionism would be much more harmful to China."

Liu Chuanzhi, founder of the computer manufacturer Lenovo Group Ltd., said at the forum that the experiences from many Chinese enterprises have proven that making global resources through different combinations and allocations can form a new level of international competitiveness.

The Lenovo founder further stressed that enterprises can gain a real competitive edge only in an open environment, while other countries will not suffer from the collapse of their companies as long as they are a member of the WTO, where problems are dealt with accordingly.
