A BMW X5 self-ignites in Guangzhou
Beijing, Nov.15 (People's Daily Online) – The German automaker BMW recently submitted a report to China’s quality watchdog to recall more than 3,000 vehicles of BMW and Rolls-Royce in Chinese mainland due to defects with their electronic pumps.
According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), BWM will recall a total of 2,862 vehicles of BMW 2009-2010 5-series GT, 2009-2010 7-series, 2008-2010 X5 and 2008-2010 X6 produced between November, 2007 and February, 2011 starting from November 21.
The automaker will also recall 336 Rolls-Royce Ghosts produced between May, 2009 and March, 2011.
The statement said the electronics pumps could crack if the circuit boards became damaged, which could cause fire accidents.
Franchised dealers of BMW and Rolls Royce will contact the customers, offering them free replacements of electronic pumps in order to eliminate potential failure.
