Huge asteroid to narrowly miss Earth (2)

NASA's simulation picture showing the asteroid's path

According to the National Science Foundation of America, it is the first time since 1976 that an object of this size has passed this closely by the Earth.

NASA has confirmed that there is no chance the asteroid will hit the Earth or moon, though it will pass closer than all other large asteroids have done in the past 35 years.
