Township in Donghai named 'No.1 Town for Cut Flowers'

Shuangdian Township of Donghai County was recently awarded the title "No.1 Town for Cut Flowers in China."

The township has built 2,600 greenhouses, with the flower planting area reaching 8 square kilometers. The provincial Agriculture and Forestry Department has granted the township the titles "Industry Base for Cut Flowers in Jiangsu Province" and "First demonstration area of Horticulture in Jiangsu Province".

More than 20 kinds of flowers including lily, gerbera, roses, tulips, Strelitzia reginae, calla lily produced in the township are not only sold in domestic cities, such as Shanghai, Beijing and Nanjing, but also are exported to other countries. Every year more than 400 million fresh cut flowers are sold, realizing sales revenue of more than 400 billion yuan.
