With rapid industrialization and urbanization, Donghai County in east China's Jiangsu Province is taking vigorous measures to ease the "double pressure" between economic growth and farming land protection by developing land resources, ensuring balanced growth between urban and rural areas and effectively reducing dependence on land

The county has initiated a total of 117 projects to balance the seizure of farming land and land since 2007, converting 33 square kilometers of non arable land into cultivated land.

Donghai County has paid much attention to planning and ensured key industrial projects will settle there thanks to favorable policies based on the county's land exploration regulations. The rule of locating industries in the county's development zone, settling people in downtown areas and setting up more communities has optimized land use.
